Arévalo Appointed to Regional Labor Arbitration Task Force

April 15, 2011

Carlos S. Arévalo, a Zukowski, Rogers, Flood & McArdle partner, has been appointed to a regional labor arbitration task force as a McHenry County Council of Governments delegate. The task force includes Illinois local government officials, human resources professionals, regional council of governments (COG) representatives, and other team members involved in collective bargaining.

The task force may study and make recommendations to local COGs on creating a labor arbitrator database and on establishing a central hiring agent on behalf of local governments. Any recommendations would then be considered by local members of each COG.

Arévalo practices municipal and local government law, corporate labor law, and employment law. He is the city attorney for Marengo and Harvard, and he has handled collective bargaining matters for the McHenry County villages of Lake in the Hills and Johnsburg. Arévalo also serves as counsel for the Woodstock Plan Commission.

A native of El Salvador, Arévalo pursued undergraduate studies at Boston College before earning his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law. He authored the June 2010 article titled “The Continuing Expansion of the Public Safety Employee Benefits Act,” published in the local government law newsletter of the Illinois State Bar Association Section on Local Government Law.
